Characterization
Thorb® 1164 is an ultraviolet light absorber (UVA) of the hydroxyphenyl triazine class exhibiting exceptionally strong and broad-range UV absorption. It combines good solubility, low color contribution, low volatility, and excellent inherent thermal and light stability. Thorb® 1164 is recommended for photosensitive substrates and for applications requiring efficient long-term UV protection.

Applications
Thorb® 1164 is effective in stabilizing PE or PP film, tape, sheet and other polyolefin systems. It is also suitable for engineering resins and high performance plastics such as PA, PET, ASA, PETG, PMMA, PBT and PC.
The use of Thorb® 1164 is particularly indicated where high efficiency UV screening, low volatility and good processing stability are required.

Guidelines for Use
Thorb® 1164 is typically used at 0.05 - 1.0 % by weight in the total polymer, depending on substrate, processing conditions and end-use performance requirements.
It can be incorporated by conventional techniques such as powder blending, solution blending or melt compounding. Actual loading levels should be determined according to application demands and weathering performance targets.
Physical Properties
Handling & Safety
The use of proper protective equipment is recommended. Excess exposure to the product should be avoided. Wash thoroughly after handling. Store the product in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area away from incompatible materials and keep containers tightly closed.
